What She See's, She Becomes

A living journal connecting young girls to women in STEM

This isn’t just a book. It’s a traveling journal and mentorship project created by Lily Botsyoe-Brobbey to plant seeds of possibility for the next generation of STEM leaders. Each page carries a personal letter from a woman in STEM – a story of curiosity, resilience, and representation.

Meet the Journal

This journal is a bridge – connecting dreams to the stories of women who have walked the path before.

Every contributor writes one heartfelt letter: a reflection on their journey, lessons, failures, breakthroughs, or a word of encouragement to the next generation. It’s real. And it’s full of quiet power.

Why This Matters

Lily’s own journey began with a simple jotter – a class notebook with a photo of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. That image became a spark for her future. Later, discovering Regina Honu – a Ghanaian woman teaching girls to code – gave Lily something she didn’t even know she was missing: representation.

That is why this journal exists. Because seeing someone like you in STEM can change everything.

How the Journal Travels

  • Each copy of What She Sees, She Becomes travels from hand to hand, city to city, girl to girl.
  • Women in STEM are invited to contribute by writing a one-page letter of encouragement.
  • After adding your letter, you pass the journal on to the next woman.
  • Once full, the journal will be preserved as a legacy piece and replicated to support Women in STEM initiatives.

How to Contribute

Write from the Heart

Share your journey. Speak from the heart. Your letter might be the spark a girl needs to keep going

  • Why you chose STEM – or how STEM chose you
  • A time you almost quit – and why you stayed
  • The advice you wish someone had told you
  • A quote or mantra that keeps you going
  • One thing you want a young girl to believe about herself
Guidelines
  • Use one right-hand page only (so up to 100 women can contribute)

  • Draft on plain paper first if needed

  • Small imperfections are okay – they’re part of the story

After Writing
  • Pass the journal along to another woman in STEM within a week
  • Cover shipping costs if you’re able (limited support available)
  • For questions or support, email initiatives@lilybotsyoe.com

One Page. One Spark. One Future.

Every letter in this journal holds the power to change a life. The girl who reads it might stay curious. She might feel seen. She might become a changemaker.

That’s the impact we’re building – one page, one spark, one future at a time.

“Technology is only as powerful as the people it includes. My work is to design, teach, and advocate so that the next generation – especially girls – see themselves in STEM and know they belong.”

- Lily Botsyoe-Brobbey
